Morocco weather
If you are planning a holiday in Morocco, the best time to visit runs from spring to autumn, when the climate is generally pleasant. Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) offer mild temperatures and are ideal for exploring the imperial cities, hiking in the Atlas or visiting the desert. Summer can be very hot, particularly inland, but remains suitable for seaside stays on the Atlantic or Mediterranean coast.
The climate in Morocco varies by region: it is Mediterranean in the north (in cities such as Tangier or Tetouan), mild oceanic on the Atlantic coast (Casablanca, Essaouira, Agadir), continental inland (Marrakech, Fez) and desert in the south and east (Ouarzazate, Merzouga). Winters are mild on the plains and the coast, but can be cold in mountainous areas, particularly in the High Atlas, where snow is frequent between December and February.
In the southern cities, such as Marrakech or Ouarzazate, summer temperatures often exceed 40°C. Conversely, mountainous areas such as Ifrane or Oukaïmeden have harsher winters, with possible snowfall. This climatic contrast allows you to enjoy a variety of activities all year round: relaxing on the beach, strolling through palm groves, skiing in the Atlas or exploring historic medinas.
Morocco therefore offers a wide range of weather conditions, making it possible to adapt to every type of trip. Whether you love dry heat, cool hikes at altitude or sea breezes, you will find the ideal time depending on the region you want to explore.
