Switzerland weather
If you would like to come on holiday in Switzerland, we recommend the period from early spring to autumn to avoid long spells of cold weather. Summer is also a good time to visit, although some tourist sites can be more crowded. This is particularly the case in the resorts by the lakes, such as those around Lake Geneva.
Note that Switzerland has a climate that varies by region: a temperate climate in the lowlands with cold winters and hot summers, an Alpine climate in the mountainous regions with harsh winters and cool summers, and a milder climate in the south, near Ticino, with moderate winters and hot summers.
The city where it rains the most in Switzerland is Lugano, followed by Locarno and Lausanne. A mountain climate affects the Alps and the Jura, bringing marked variations depending on altitude. Depending on the weather, you will be able to enjoy a wide range of experiences during your holiday in Switzerland, whatever the season. Whether skiing in winter, hiking in summer or exploring the charming towns in any season, Switzerland always has something to offer.
