Dalí House Cadaqués: everything about its history

Salvador Dalí, born in 1904 in Figueres in Catalonia (Spain), developed a marked interest in art from a very young age. It was at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid that he honed his art, crossing paths with major figures of the Spanish avant-garde. His work, blending classical and modern influences, is famous for its dreamlike and surrealist images. The irrational then takes precedence over logic, underlining an overflowing imagination and a desire to provoke. "The Persistence of Memory" is the illustration of this.

Dalí and his muse Gala settled in Portlligat in 1930, near Cadaqués, the village where Dalí spent his childhood holidays. They then transformed a series of fishermen's huts into a surrealist labyrinth. This is how the Dalí House was born, serving both as a residence and as a studio in which to paint his timeless works. This emblematic place, imbued with his creative fantasy, is now open to the public. A lovely visit to understand the world of this artistic genius and his eccentricity.
