How to get around Barcelona? Transfer from the airport to Barcelona

Barcelona has a well-developed transport infrastructure that includes metro, buses, trams, taxis and even a bike-sharing service. 

For information, Barcelona-El Prat airport is relatively close to the city centre. So, how do you get there? 

1. The Aerobus: this express bus service links the airport to the centre of Barcelona (Plaça de Catalunya), with frequent departures throughout the day. After midnight, there is the night service (NitBus), very handy when the metro is closed.

2. The train (R2 Nord): from Barcelona Sants station, you can take the train to the airport. If you want to go to the city centre, just take the metro from this station. 
3. The metro (L9 Sud): it connects Barcelona airport to various points in the city.
4. Taxis are available at the airport and throughout the centre of Barcelona (just raise your hand as in New York and it will stop). Allow about 20-30 minutes for the journey, depending on traffic. As for payment, you can easily pay by bank card or in cash. 
5. Another option: hire a vehicle for maximum flexibility or if you want to visit the surrounding area (such as Sitges, for example).
