Wander the picturesque streets of Ciutadella

Visiting Ciutadella is like an invitation to travel back in time. Set off to explore a town steeped in history with worn cobblestones, which was the island's former capital until the 18th century. Located in the west, it is now the second largest town on the island. What we love about Ciutadella is letting yourself be guided through a maze of narrow lanes lined with buildings and bourgeois houses with colourful façades. Enjoy a moment of tranquillity with a coffee on the bar terraces, have an ice cream before leaving and do a bit of shopping in the town's most beautiful shops. You'll be surprised by the local crafts, where every object tells a story. You can have lunch along the harbour. A warm atmosphere we love.

Don't miss the historic centre of Ciutadella with:
- the famous Plaça d'Es Born and its obelisk
- the street Ses Voltes with its pretty shops and arcades
- Ciutadella and its fish market
- the Ciutadella Cathedral
Every summer, the traditional festivals of each village turn the streets into real stages, with the famous Menorcan horses rearing up in the midst of the crowd. The best known is Sant Joan in Ciutadella, at the end of June.
Go hiking on the Camí de Cavalls
Want to go for a walk and get some fresh air during your week in Menorca? Here is an 11 km hike, better known as the "Camí de Cavalls". It runs along the GR 223 trail (which also goes all the way round the island!). Accessible to all, this historic 185 km trail poses no great difficulty. It goes right round the island. It is divided into 20 stages that can be done on foot, by bike or on horseback. Just bring a little water to stay well hydrated.
It's the best way to discover hidden coves, cliffs, forests and archaeological remains.
Go snorkelling or diving in Menorca

Menorca necessarily means crystal-clear waters and underwater biodiversity. A paradise for snorkelling and diving enthusiasts.

More authentic and wild than the island of Majorca or Ibiza, Menorca invites you to discover its shimmering, colourful seabed and its preserved ecosystem. Surrounded by shoals of multicoloured fish, set off to explore underwater caves and sublime coral reefs. Menorca, with its clear waters and accessible dive sites, promises unforgettable underwater adventures. Whether a beginner or an experienced diver, treat yourself to the unique experience of diving in Menorca. A real moment suspended between wonder and serenity!
Visit the sanctuary of the Virgin of Monte Toro
Did you know that the island's highest point is 358 metres high, from where you can sometimes see Majorca on a clear day. At the top, a peaceful sanctuary and a 360° view await you.
During your stay, don't miss the Monte Toro viewpoint with its breathtaking view over a good part of Menorca and Fornells Bay. A chance to watch the sunset and visit the Sanctuary of the Virgin (the island's patron saint). To get there, you need to go by car; the car park is free.
What to do in Menorca with the family? The best activities
Planning a family stay on this Balearic island. Here is a selection of activities to do with children so that nobody gets bored!

See the La Mola fortress
If you come to Menorca, this is undoubtedly a must-do family activity at the tip of the port of Mahón. Built in 1850, this fortress served as a defence for the island. Your children will love getting lost in the many underground passages and playing pirates. Allow about 2.5 hours for the visit, with the option of hiring an audio guide.
On site, as the site is quite large, you can get around in electric buggies in the outdoor areas. You'll find all the info on their official website.
Go aboard a glass-bottom boat

Treat yourself to a most immersive experience on a glass-bottom boat excursion. Your children can watch the seabed, comfortably seated on the boat. The trip lasts about 2 hours, ideal for getting an overview of the magnificent Menorcan coastline. The highlight: your children can enjoy a slide down into the sea and cool off with you. An hour of swimming for the pleasure of young and old alike.
Discover the island by Jeep on a safari

For about 3 hours, climb aboard an off-road vehicle to travel around and discover the island like you've never seen it! Depending on your wishes, the route can be customised. All you have to do is ask. In a jeep, you'll pass through exclusive sites and cross private country roads, the best way to explore Menorca's wildlife and plants. Your driver can answer all your questions and will be happy to share his good addresses along the way.
Practical information: not allowed for pregnant women and children under 5.
Go to the beach and swim in translucent waters
A UNESCO-recognised biosphere reserve with 200 km of coastline, Menorca is home to just under a hundred white sand beaches and small coves.

A postcard setting to paddle with your children. However, note that to enjoy the beaches in Menorca, you need to get up early, as the car parks fill up quickly (often before 10am, be warned!).
Unlike Majorca, which is much more built up, most of the coves are quite wild, with no visible construction nearby, and we love that.

Here is one of the most beautiful beaches to swim with children in Menorca:
- Es Grau beach, ideal for children as it is shallow.
- Sa Caleta, a magnificent cove with turquoise-blue water.
- Cala Algaiarens : a pretty wild beach lined by a pine forest and surrounded by dunes. Ideal for families, as it's easy to reach, only a five-minute walk from the car park.
- Cala Mitjana, a magnificent beach in a cove with crystal-clear water.
- Cala de Binidalí, a quiet little cove with translucent water.
- Es Calo Blanc, a small cove of fine sand with turquoise water and a few rocks around.
- Son Saura, ideal for families. But once again, get up early to lay your towel there!

If you want to see a unique landscape, head to Cala Pregonda: its red-orange sand and dark rocks give it the look of the planet Mars.
Go to a water park for a fun day
Want to have fun as a family during your stay in Menorca? Here are 3 water parks you might like.
Splash Menorca, nestled in the heart of the island

Splash Menorca is an oasis of entertainment for the whole family under the Mediterranean sun. With its dizzying water slides, pools and play areas for younger children, this park promises days full of adventure and laughter. Note that there are water attractions for all ages with plenty of relaxation areas.
Aqua Rock, in Cala en Bosc
This water paradise promises an exhilarating day. On the programme: thrilling slides, relaxing pools, wave pool… After the excitement of the slides, relax and enjoy the sun on the sun loungers provided.
Aquacenter, 5 kilometres from Ciutadella
Smaller than the previous ones, this park is located in the Los Delfines development. You'll find the famous black hole to try with or without a float, kamikaze slides and many pools. If you're a little hungry, the snack bar offers
Stargazing on the island of Menorca

If you're wondering "what to do in Menorca with children?", here is an unusual activity in Menorca that the whole family will surely enjoy: watching the stars! Classified as a "Starlight reserve", Menorca is one of those places in the world that is great for stargazing and seeing showers of shooting stars. The reason? Its low light pollution. As a result, it's not hard to observe the cosmos and its celestial phenomena with the naked eye without even a telescope!
Note that the best weather conditions are in August. You may have the privilege of seeing the tears of San Lorenzo, an incredible shower of shooting stars for creating memorable memories!
Watch birds at the S'Albufera des Grau Natural Park
During your stay on the island, take your children to the S'Albufera des Grau Natural Park. This protected natural area is best known for its great diversity of birds such as herons, eagles, cormorants and species like the osprey. Once in the park, you can choose from 3 routes ranging from 40 minutes to 75 minutes on foot.
Remember to bring a bottle of water and protect yourself well from the sun.
Walk through the Lithica labyrinth

Set off to discover a unique and authentic place: the Pedreres de s'Hostal. This former stone quarry was used to extract a rock (called marès) for more than 200 years. It was used mainly to build many buildings on the island of Menorca.
The visit includes a sublime botanical garden, as well as a giant labyrinth. To visit the site calmly and enjoy the place, allow at least two hours.
Stroll through the pretty villages of Binibeca Vell or Es Castell
Your children will love getting lost in the lanes of these charming seaside villages.
Binibeca, 8 kilometres from Mahón, is a fishing village with white houses built around a cove.

After visiting the village, you can go for a swim at Cala Binibeca which is not far away, or go for a short hike along the Pierre et Vacances opposite the village.
Thanks to its British influence, Es Castell is another charming village, also in the east of Menorca, very close to the capital. We love its picturesque atmosphere and magnificent views over Mahón harbour, but it's above all its colourful streets and lively squares that make it so charming. Famous for Cales Fonts, you can take a stroll along the quay lined with restaurants and bars, very nice in the evening. It's a must for anyone seeking authenticity and tranquillity.
Visit a farm and learn how to make goat's cheese

Do your children like being in contact with animals? Why not plan a visit to a local farm to pet the goats and see the cows.
As a family, you can tour the estate and then go and taste Mahón cheese. For an even more immersive experience, you can also step into the shoes of a master cheesemaker. A way to teach children how cheese is made.
